US spends more on home improvement for 10th consecutive year

The US economy retracted 3.5 percent last year, but home improvement spending increased nationally by 3 percent to nearly $420 billion, according to a report from Harvard’s Joint Center for Housing Studies.

Multiple rounds of federal economic relief during the pandemic kept employees on payrolls, which contributed to higher-than-expected income. Lockdowns also meant people were spending less and had more money to put toward things like home improvement.

Whatcom man suspected of voyeurism of 4 children in bathroom

A Whatcom County man is suspected of using a camera disguised to look like a cellphone charger to capture video and images of four children between the ages of 12 and 17 undressing, using the bathroom and showering. All four victims were known to the man.
